An Interview with Jeffrey Tufenkian

After holding an interview with Asbed Kotchikian on the potential role of the Diaspora in democracy building in Armenia, today it was the turn of Jeffrey Tufenkian and Raffi Hovannisian. The transcript of the short interview with Jeffrey Tufenkian is online here and a transcript of my interview with Raffi Hovannisian will be available in the near future.

Jeffrey Tufenkian is the President of the Armenian Forests NGO as well as its co-founder. He was also one of the founders of the Kanach Foundation. Jeffrey Tufenkian’s background is in advocacy on environmental, public health, human rights and consumer issues, mainly in the United States. He also has extensive experience in outreach work and organizing students, lobbying for legislative changes and media advocacy. He moved to Armenia three years ago.

This interview was held in Yerevan, Republic of Armenia on 8 September 2005. It is part of continuing research for an article on the possible role of the Diaspora in democracy building in the Republic of Armenia.

Incidentally, the interview with Tufenkian refers to the campaign to save the Shikahogh Nature Reserve in Armenia, the background to which can be found here.
