Rock Against Environmental Destruction

It’s not often that you hear rock music on the streets of Yerevan, but today, Gyumri rockers Bambir changed all of that — literally. Riding on the back of a truck, Bambir toured the streets in an action to protest the destruction of the capital’s green areas by senior government officials, and the mainly oligarch-driven illegal construction in the center of the city. The environmental protest action was organized by the Armenian Center for Contemporary Experimental Art.

Incidently, Bambir will be playing again at Yerevan’s Stop Club on 16, 25, 28 and 31 December. Busy guys, and fast becoming Armenia’s most interesting contemporary musical act.

  1. I think this is a brilliant idea!

It just reminds me of Ken Kesey and his Merry Pranksters travelling around in the USA in their Magic Bus aiming to change the world and peoples’ minds from back in the Sixties . The only difference is that Bambir doesn’t need any “mind-expanding” drugs to do so.

I believe art can help to change the world.

  5. Hello guys!
I love what you did on the streets of Yerevan! Really great and creative and fun!
I hope this will become a tradition and Yerevan will be surprized by these nice crazy people:) I am also crazy and I am now thinking what could be the next thing we could maybe organize together to shake the tired (hognats) minds of our post-soviet country.

P.S. Dear Rabiz majority of Yerevan/Armenia: try to not pay attention to what these rockmen are doing, it only makes you angry:)
