An Armenian in India
By Headache
I have always dreamt about India.
Now I am in India and I think that it’s one of the craziest places in the world. Despite the fact that I have seen just a small part of Delhi and Faridabad I would like to pass on my impressions.
You may see everything in India, and a whole life is not enough to understand the country. It is probably impossible to understand. You have to feel India instead. It is great meditation for the soul.
It is a world of contrasts. While walking on the streets you can see rich and beautiful houses as well as small poor huts nearby. Cows, squirrels, monkeys and people — they all live together.
You can see a modern hairdressing salon on the street, and not so far from the same place a small stool under a canopy. It’s a place where you can cut your hair and shave your beard. A poor old man is sitting on the stool while another has his hair cut.
The streets of India are full of cars, motocycles, bicycles, rickshaws and… cows.
Cows are sacred, and sometimes cars have accidents with them. Once we were driving in Delhi and suddenly two cows appeared in front of us. They were fighting with each other, and broke the headlight of our car.
There are one or two lizards, and a lot of mosquitoes in my room. They bite me all night making my face ugly. Maybe they want to teach me to feel my soul and to not dwell on the body. Because the body is just the place where the soul lives.
Once someone said, “To see Paris and die,” but I would say that it is more befitting to feel India and die.
India - the craziest place in the world.
