Took a peek at the nationalist website. Ugh, disgusting!

As for estimating crowds, there's supposed to be some science on how to do that properly But I'm guessing ~ 3K as well :)

Hmmm, judging from the photo on Hetq Online's photo section, I might even say less than 5,000 turned out in Yerevan for Dink on the day of his funeral:

http://www.hetq.am/eng/photostory/2007_jan_dink_01.html

I'm hopeless with guestimating the size of crowds at rallies and demonstrations, however.

I'm guessing 3,000, possibly 3,500, but what do others reckon?

I was just looking at an Armenian Nationalist Forum and found it quite interesting that not much discussion is going on about Dink's murder -- just lots of news reports posted.

http://z4.invisionfree.com/Armenian_Diaspora/index.php?showtopic=2639

However, there are a few comments on one thread. Not much is said, although while most disliked Hrant Dink's message, most were sympathetic.

I dont even know what to say about that person, he had some weird ideas about Armenian Turkish relations, I mean there mustnt be any such relations but he was planing some such things...

[...]

Truely sad, this only hurts the Turks by killing a man who stood up for Armenians.I wish the whole Armenian population of Turkey and the world my true condolences for this horrible act of murder. sad.gif

[...]

The guy was ok, he said a lot of dumb stuff though.

[...]

he was a family friend. has been to my house, and is an all round top bloke. god be with his family. although this news has shoked my family, i guess in away it was inevetable.

and to those who some times critisize him, u have to understand this is a guy who stood up for armenians in turkey, and voiced his opinion, he wasn't scared of nobody. he had balls, and unfortunatly it has cost him his life.

even in his death, he has promoted the issue of our genocide, with thousands of news articles undescoring the massacare of our people. it was the top new on google

RIP, god bless

[...]

Even though I didn't agree with the stance of trying to have relations with turks, he was still an Armenian and willing to go to jail for that. May he rest in peace and be avenged someday.

Anyway, there's a wealth of information from all walks of life in Armenia, the Diaspora and Turkey. As with everything, I believe a plurality of information, views and opinions is key to understanding any issue.
