Security Tight at Arabkir BHK Rally

Following on from the bomb attacks on two Prosperous Armenia (BHK) campaign offices, security was noticeably tight for todays election rally by the party in the Arabkir district of Yerevan. Police had sealed off roads leading to the square where some of Armenia’s top contemporary singers including Hasmik Karapetian, Sirusho, Arsen Grigorian and Arsen Safarian also performed as part of the BHK campaign.

The presence of a dozens of Gagik Tsarukian’s notorious shaven headed bodyguards was also obvious, and unlike other rallies where Armenia’s richest man makes his way through the crowd to a waiting entourage of black jeeps, his car was parked close to the stage for a quick getaway. Because I have two deadlines to hit for EurasiaNet, photographs from the event will have to wait until some time tomorrow.
