Mobile Phone Humour
Given that my 2.5 year old Siemens CX65 mobile died on me a few days ago thanks to an apparently inherent design flaw with the circuit board, time for some mobile phone humour. Myrthe at The Armenian Odar has more.
Earlier today I met a girl from Lebanon who had brought some things from my boyfriend’s parents for us. We didn’t know each other and we were supposed to meet on the Republic Square. This is part of the phone conversation we had when we were trying to find each other.
She: Are you standing in front of the museum?
I: Yes.She: Are you wearing a black summer dress?
I: Yes.She: Okay, I think I see you. Are you talking on the phone right now?
I: ….
Well, anyway, had to go out and get a new phone today and as none of the designer phones most people prefer here don’t appeal to me, I decided to see if I could find one that’s got a good enough camera in for blog entries. Couldn’t justify the cost of Sony Ericsson k800i CyberShot or Nokia equivalent, as nice as they are. Basically, they’re still not comparable to a 3.2 megapixel dedicated digital compact although pretty impressive nonetheless.
Nor is the model I decided upon — the 2 megapixel Sony Ericsson k750i — but at half the price and apparently better than the Sony Ericsson k550i CyberShot, it was a compromise decision and not half bad for what it is. My first test shot has been uploaded to my Flickr site and is included below. Definitely not good enough for prints, in my opinion, but adequate for online purposes when I’m not carrying any proper photographic gear around.
Sonic the Hedgehog runs on it too, so that’s got to be an additional plus — for me anyway.

And of course, another test, but this time with my son as the subject. As you can see, he’s kind of tiring of Daddy using him to check out his latest photographic toys, but I think Sonic the Hedgehog running on the phone will make up for it.

Update: Yes, Sonic did.

Good choice of phone Onnik - I really like Sony Ericsson (mine is Sony Ericsson K700i - bought it before the k750 were out) …and two very good shots too!
