Georgia: Armenian Observers

A few weeks ago PanArmenian.Net reported that two representatives from Armenia will observe the 5 January 2008 presidential election in Georgia as part of the OSCE/ODIHR international observation mission. The web site of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of the Republic of Armenia named at least one of those representatives as Atom Mkhitaryan from the CEC’s Department of Foreign Relations.

Unfortunately, I can’t find any information on whether the local It’s Your Choice NGO will also be observing. In related news, there is an interesting tender announcement on the Armenia-Diaspora web site for checking the voters list using SMS. The closing date has passed, but for sure the use of modern technology is interesting. It’s also promising to see such an open call for bids.

  1. A group made up of several It’s Your Choice observers will be monitoring within the framework of European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations.
